Dr. W. Edwards Deming went to Japan during the 1950s to help them rebuild after the war. He taught the Japanese about quality, and the rest is history. Although he never used the phrase “Total Quality Management,” he is credited with starting the Quality Revolution and the TQM Movement. His work did not catch on in the United States until 1979, when the NBC White Paper "If Japan Can, Why Can't We?" told how Bill Conway of the Nashua Corporation enlisted Dr. Deming to help them with their productivity and quality problems.
Although there are many variations of TQM in existence, Deming’s version was the first, and is still the most complete system for TQM. All of our work with Neoteric Leadership is founded in Deming's Theory of Profound Knowledge, and has been proven effective everywhere we have applied it.
